About this Role
The Climate Finance Senior Associate will be instrumental in operationalizing the Climate Finance Department (CFD) in Rwanda and advancing the country’s sustainable finance initiatives. Embedded within the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN), the role entails supporting the strategic implementation of climate finance projects, developing innovative financial instruments, and engaging with key stakeholders to enhance the capacity-building efforts. In collaboration with GGGI’s internal teams and external partners, the associate will contribute to knowledge sharing and the dissemination of best practices across global networks. A critical component of the role includes fostering strong relationships with government entities and ensuring efficient project delivery aligned with GGGI’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Support the operationalization of the CFD and effective implementation of the project in Rwanda.
- Contribute to identifying technical solutions to achieve climate finance targets.
- Develop and coordinate a prioritized pipeline of bankable climate projects.
- Facilitate engagement activities with partners and investors.
- Support capacity building and knowledge sharing for CFD and MINECOFIN staff.
- Engage with key government stakeholders for effective project delivery.
- Ensure timely, high-quality project implementation across all outcome areas.
- Plan and facilitate key project workshops and meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to climate/green finance.
- At least 5 years of professional work experience in climate/green finance solutions.
- Good understanding of Rwanda’s national development strategies and international climate finance landscape.
- Experience in organizing consultations and capacity-building events.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and in a team setting.
