About this Role

The Investment Officer plays a crucial role in advancing climate finance initiatives under the LIFT Programme. This involves developing high-quality, bankable concept notes for multilateral climate funds and designing operational green lending portfolios with partner financial institutions globally. The role entails providing technical and coordination support to ensure climate investment opportunities are structured effectively and aligned with national priorities. Working closely with accredited entities, government counterparts, and consultants, the officer ensures investment readiness and compliance with donor requirements. Moreover, the officer helps financial institutions develop green lending frameworks, identify pipelines, and strengthen capacity for climate-aligned investments. The position also involves cross-cutting program functions such as stakeholder engagement, procurement inputs, and reporting to ensure coherence and quality across LIFT components.

Responsibilities

  • Support coordination and delivery of green lending and investment activities under the LIFT Programme.
  • Enable financial institutions to access climate finance through frameworks and investment pipelines.
  • Provide technical coordination and quality support for multi-country assignments.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external partners to align operational and technical aspects.
  • Engage with financial institutions and development partners involved in climate finance.
  • Support partnership development to advance implementation of green lending frameworks.
  • Represent the programme in technical meetings and consultations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of programme and donor reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Public Administration, Business Management, International Relations, or related fields.
  • At least 6 years of relevant professional experience, especially with financial institutions on green lending or financing activities.
  • Experience in green finance, sustainable finance, or climate finance.
  • Proven experience in working with commercial banks, DFIs, or investment institutions.
  • Working knowledge of multilateral climate funds.
  • Experience in developing bankable project pipelines or investment-ready opportunities.
  • Understanding of climate finance instruments, ESG/ESRM frameworks, and international standards.
  • Experience working in developing countries.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages, particularly French, are advantageous.
