About this Role

The role of a Consultant at Accion focuses on driving structured engagement and development of partnerships with financial service providers (FSPs) across Sub-Saharan Africa. This involves working within the framework of the ClimaFii Alliance, a five-year accelerator initiative led by Shell Foundation in partnership with Accion and BFA Global. The initiative aims to finance adoption of clean energy solutions for microenterprises in the region, by designing and deploying end-user financing products. The Consultant’s role is integral to strategy development, prospecting, and onboarding FSP partners to enhance access to climate-smart technologies for micro, small, and medium enterprises. Accion seeks individuals with deep experience in green finance and inclusive finance to accelerate collaborations with FSPs, enabling project implementation and pilots across target markets. The engagement includes landscape mapping, partnership development, and providing product support and pilot co-design. Key deliverables are structured with monthly, quarterly, and annual targets to ascertain progress and inform ongoing efforts.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in financial sector partnership development, inclusive finance, green/climate finance in sub-Saharan Africa, prioritizing Kenya, Uganda, or Nigeria
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and mobilizing green finance solutions
  • Track record of building and closing partnerships with FSPs
  • Strong understanding of risk frameworks, credit guarantees, de-risking instruments, and business case development
  • Experience supporting business development and fundraising in climate finance contexts
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multi-stakeholder teams
  • Bi-lingual in English and French is an added advantage
