Climate finance. Kayyak Ventures and Dalus Capital backed Enerlink to expand EV charging in Latin America… Lightsmith Group backed Tive to climate-proof global supply chains… ResponsAbility provided a $15 million line of credit to Benin-based commercial bank NSIA Banque to expand green lending for local enterprises, green agriculture and clean energy projects… Standard Chartered issued a €1 billion green bond, its first, to finance renewable energy and green building projects in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Food processing. French asset manager Mirova invested $10 million in Indonesia-based Big Tree Farms, an organic coconut processor, via its sustainable land use strategy… Kimbo Fund provided convertible debt to accelerate an Angolan food-processing business.
Fund news. Agricultural Commodity Transformation Fund secured anchor backing from Invest International… Impact Fund Denmark, Denmark’s development finance institution, committed $15 million to a Verdant Capital fund to invest in African financial institutions serving small and mid-sized businesses… UK-based Bridges Fund Management secured £440 million ($590 million) in commitments and co-investment capital for its sixth Property Alternatives fund.
Good jobs. California-based HCAP Partners acquired Core Analytics Lab & Radiology, a provider of radiology and laboratory services with 300 facilities in California. Listen to HCAP’s Hope Mago on the firm’s “gainful jobs” strategy… In its largest buyout, Apis & Heritage helped thousands of B and B Maintenance workers become owners.
Inclusive lending. African Development Partners secured $50 million from Germany’s DEG to provide growth capital to mid-sized companies in Africa working in healthcare, transport, financial services and retail… Switzerland-based Symbiotics led an $18 million debt round for Dugar Finance in India to expand small business and commercial vehicle lending… Xepelin, which offers financial services for small and mid-sized enterprises in Chile, secured $20 million from Nazca Ventures and other backers as it looks to expand in Mexico.
Low-carbon transition. Equitable Earth in Paris snagged €12.6 million ($15 million) in a round led by an undisclosed US-based family office for its nature-based carbon credits certification program… Indigo Ag signed up Microsoft to offtake 2.9 million carbon removal credits.
Returns on inclusion. Calvert Impact Capital invested $10 million in BlueOrchard’s microfinance strategy in Latin America and the Caribbean, which focuses on women, migrants and Indigenous people… Netherlands’ investment fund backed diverse founders as a ‘strategic advantage’… Raven Indigenous Capital Partners invested in Bim Bam Boo, which makes bamboo-based tissue paper products as a sustainable alternative to tree-based tissue. Bim Bam Boo’s female founder is from the Houma Nation of Southeastern Louisiana Territory.
