Clean technologies. New York-based Crux, which provides tax credit data and streamlines financing for clean energy projects, raised $50 million in a Series B round from Lowercarbon Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Ardent Venture Partners and others… South Africa’s New GX Capital and RMB Ventures reached a $120 million first close for their Airnergize Capital Fund I to support renewable energy, gas and water infrastructure projects in Africa.
Diverse managers. Catalyze welcomed seven first-time fund managers serving underrepresented entrepreneurs and communities to its 2025 cohort. The group includes Adaptation Ventures, which invests in disability tech; Dark Pool Capital, a VC secondaries fund manager; and Luminescent, an early stage healthcare fund manager.
Edtech. Hopelab backed Knowlej to tackle chronic absenteeism via personalized learning and engagement.
Electric vehicles. Bezos-backed Slate Auto amasses a warchest to take on Tesla… London-based Flock Mobility, which makes software to optimize shared electric vehicle rides, raised €1.1 million ($1.2 million) from the family office and Gareth Williams, who founded the flight aggregation site, Skyscanner.
Financial inclusion. Schwarzwald Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in fintech and creative economy startups, made a strategic investment in Oregon-based Vesta to help online creators manage fraud in digital transactions.
Fund news. Bringing $1 billion to clean water and sanitation access in the Global South… Campbell Global, an investment manager specializing in timberland and natural resource investments, raised $1.5 billion for its second forest and climate solutions fund… Nigerian infrastructure investor secured catalytic commitment to unlock pension fund investment… Seattle-based venture capital firm Stepchange closed its first fund at $7 million to invest in startups focused on clean transportation and energy, and climate adaptation and resilience… Temasek’s ABC Impact closed a $600 million fund for impact investments in Asia.
Green infrastructure. Blue like an Orange invested $15 million to support internet access in Peru… California-based Mainspring Energy raised $258 million to manufacture generators for renewable energy suppliers and data center owners and operators… Living Ink Technologies snagged $3 million from Savia Ventures, Evergreen Climate Innovations, Fashion for Good and other backers to transform algae waste into zero-carbon materials for packaging, footwear and apparel… Nyobolt raised $30 million for its battery storage and fast-charging systems to power data centers and the transportation sector.
Inclusive finance. Honeycomb Credit raised $750,000 from Upstart Co-Lab and acquired IFundWomen… Maxwell Street Capital Partners secured a line of credit from Lafayette Square to fund its investment in warehousing and logistics company Port Jersey Logistics in New Jersey.
Solar financing. Apollo is teaming up with community solar developer Summit Ridge Energy on a $400 million joint venture to own and operate community solar projects in Illinois… German development finance institution DEG made a $28 million equity investment in YieldCo, a unit of France’s GreenYellow that develops solar projects in Vietnam and Thailand… Lagos-based Arnergy, backed by Bill Gates, raised a $15 million Series B extension round to drive solar adoption in Nigeria.
